Morning This morning the team did a 2 mile warm up and then the firemen for 2 miles.  Running the two mile loop is sort of scary for me because there are all these branches and roots that I'm frightened I'm going to run in to or trip over.  Ha, anyways, after, we did strides for the photographer and a cool down.

I'm feeling prettttty good.

I'm leaving town for Estes Park tomorrow morning and hopefully their trails have the distance marked so that I'll still be able to blog my miles.  I tend to underestimate how much milage I do if I have to decide myself. Another worry is the altitude, however, I think I'll be ok. We're better off here than people at sea level.

Night 2 mile warm up, 3 miles of speed change, 1 mile cool down. I felt totally exhausted after the first 800 and the backs of my knees and calves felt tight and sore(ish).

3 sets of 25 crunches.

I biked 2 miles to the park and biked home for a total of 4 miles. The ride home was tough.

Have a fun trip. If you have access to a computer and the trials you run are easy to see from satelite, you can go to gmap-pedometer and it will measure the distance. But just getting out for the time on the run is the key. So just go have fun.

The team ran from the JCC up the mountains. It was 3 miles up but geez, it felt like more. The mountains were gorgeous this morning and I was thinking of what a great place to run. Other runners from different areas can't experience trail running that's within 5 minutes from their home. We're lucky to be able to run with a dry climate, beautiful scenery, and cool canyon breezes.

I was grateful I wasn't hurting, however, on the 4th mile I fell. I just got scraped up and it didn't cause anything more than a little blood (thank goodness). Last night I iced my ankle and thigh in the places they had been hurting the day before and it paid off. Now today I will do the same eventhough they weren't bothering me. Minuteman 5k        I iced my ankle last night and on the way driving to the race. Luckily, my ankle didn't bother me during the warm up or race but a tiny bit on the cool down. My time when I looked at the race clock was 25:33. I was disappointed in my time. A few weeks ago, I ran a 5k a minute and a half faster. It was at sea level so maybe that's why there is such a big difference. During the first two miles of the race, I felt really good and was meeting my time goals for the miles. The last mile, however, I felt really hot and my body started shivering.

You ran well and your time will come down. Stay focused on building your base miles and the faster times will come. Also, Ice on the ankle may not be the best before the race. You want to warm it up, ice could make it stiff and less flexible. Always ice after though. It's great having you on the team.

I didn't attend morning practice. My grandmother didn't think it would be a good idea if I was running tonight because of my ankle. I agreed.

I took two 800s of ibuprofen yesterday and two today as well. For tonight's team 4k, my ankle felt pretty normal. My other one, the right one, felt a little strange however. I leave for Idaho tomorrow and will not run this weekend. Hopefully by giving it a few days of rest and only alittle activity, it can recover. The race went alright, I just felt really tired. This season is going to be very good for both teams and I'm excited! We did our team cheer tonight and it got me pumped for this fall. Go East XC!

Missed the morning practice because I was touring Westminster.  It's a nice college.  When the admissions counselor asked if I did any sport I told her cross country. She said I should contact the coach if I was thinking about running in college.  I've never thought about that before. I don't believe I'm fast enough to run for a college team though. I don't know how I would hold up either.

Team run/bike at Jeremy Ranch. It was an extremely gorgeous morning. My shins hurt a bit on the running. I'll have to remember what to do with them. I think it's 2 minutes in cold water, 1 minute in warm water..Something like that. The biking was tough on hills. I'd much rather run up ten hills than bike up one. Plus my butt hurts from the bike seat. It turns out I was an hour and ten minutes late for work! I thought I needed to be there by 10 but I guess it was by 9. I'm disappointed my times have been a lot slower than the first meet (i had 22.20, something around there) and my PR a few weeks before that(21:50). I can't figure out why I'm 2+ minutes slower now.  1 mi warm up, 1 mi speed change, 4 one mile repeats with 400 m recovery, and mile cool down. This work out was hard! My last mile was the fastest, however, which was awesome. My shins didn't hurt at all so I am very happy about that.

I really wanted to do well in this meet. I started yesterday by eating carbs and drinking a lot of water, getting more than 9 hours of sleep, and eating and drinking a lot today too. The meet was at the golf course in Rose Park. I started fast and during my middle mile I slowed. I'm bummed that a West girl passed my during that time but no one else did which was good. The last 100 meters, Susannah and I kicked way hard. I got a PR and this was a real 5k. The course was easy but it was hot today. I wasn't hurting which is a relief. I'm very happy with my race overall. :)

We ran 3 laps around Liberty. My legs felt tired and my calves were sore. I could feel my shin splints.

The zoo run. My shins splints really hurt on the downhills and then all through the middle of the run. When the run was over, they hurt a lot so I immediately iced them. Blah. This disappoints me.

It rained the whole time but the team stayed on the bus in order to stay dry. Last year I attended this race, however, I did not run it because I was injured. This morning, I wanted to get a 23 minutes or lower. I feel ok with my time (23:43) but I could have done better. Both varsity teams placed third, even though girls didn't have a full team! Strange. We got two trophies and four on the team got medels for finishing in the top 10. Before the race started and we were running to the bathrooms in the rain, my shins hurt really badly. When we were running to watch the jv races they still hurt. I took 600 ibuprofen and the warm up and race didn't have any pain.

Sunnyside speed workout. Boy, this was hard. We did 150s ( I think) and about a 800 (?).

AM: Went to Liberty? I think. 3 laps; 1 warm up, 2 firemen.

PM: Sugarhouse. Did the state course nice and easy and then did two 800s. My quads were sore at the beginning and my shins were of course.
